We are proud to stand candidates across North Tyneside Borough and Alan Steele is our lead candidate, standing in Whitley Bay ward.  The 2023 local council elections saw Alan come a strong second and we held our position as the official opposition in Whitley Bay.  In 2024 we doubled our vote from turned-out electors from 1 in 10 in 2023 to 1 in 5 electors across North Tyneside Borough as a whole supporting a Green Party candidate. See our home page for more details on our 2024 results and watch this space for more analysis and info on our future plans for local elections.

Message From Alan Steele

I am honoured to be your Green Party candidate for Whitley Bay. I have lived in the area for 33 years, and have found it a great place for me and my family to live. We have developed a strong, deep rooted network of friends and social contacts. I love the natural diversity of our area and the sense of community spirit that exists here.

I have had a long career locally as a Mental Health Nurse and have always seen wellbeing as central to people’s lives. I believe that people’s wellbeing stems from having comfortable, safe, secure and affordable housing; access to meaningful activity; friends and people to talk to and money to spend.

I believe we can maintain, and improve on, all that is good in our community by supporting and using the community spirit that already exists and prioritising the needs of Whitley Bay residents. We need a strong and independent voice to stand up for Whitley Bay and hold the Council to its promises.

With your vote, I can bring a badly-needed Green voice to the council. Please give me, and Whitley Bay, that opportunity.
