“A Green Party Mayor will provide strong leadership in making sure that this borough can face the future with confidence knowing that we are all working together to create a healthier, environmentally sustainable and happier place to live.”
– Penny Remfry (Green Party Candidate for North Tyneside Mayor)
The North Tyneside Borough Green Party have announced Penny Remfry as their candidate for the North Tyneside Mayoral Election.
Penny is the Co-Coordinator of the local Party and has been working on behalf of communities across North Tyneside since the 1970s.
Despite continuing concerns regarding the pandemic, the election will proceed on 6 May this year – and the Green Party are encouraging voters to register for a postal vote to help keep the elections Covid safe.
The effect of the pandemic on our community, along with the climate emergency, is at the heart of Green Party thinking as we look to build a Green future.
Speaking at the Party’s launch event, held via Zoom, Penny said:
“With over 12 months of lockdown because of the pandemic and the need to respond to the climate emergency ever more urgent, we need to rebuild our economy and cut back drastically on our use of fossil fuels.”
