We stood a record number of Candidates in 2021 – standing in 15 of the 20 Wards – and we subsequently recorded a record vote share across the Borough, winning 7.1% of the total vote.
We had some standout results, including Whitley Bay where we recorded 28.1% of the vote. Our Candidate, Alan Steele finished second (cutting the Labour majority in half).
We also performed well in Longbenton and Tynemouth (recording over 10% of the vote). Howdon, Riverside and Valley also saw vote share above 9%.
We are officially North Tyneside’s third Party (consistently in front of the LibDems) and are pushing for our first Councillor in 2022.

“I have been politically active for most of my life and have held a real desire to advance the cause of social justice – in my view inequality is at the root of most of our societal problems.
I practiced as a mental health nurse for most of my working life and my work helped me fully recognise the unbreakable link between our social, physical, emotional and environmental health.
I moved to the north east of England over 30 years ago and have lived here by the coast for almost all of this time.”
Allie Wilson Craw for Benton
“I have been involved in community development and campaigning for human rights and the environment for many years.
I am currently Chair of ‘Friends of Benton Village Green’, I am a founding trustee of ‘Tyneside Welcomes’ and, until recently, I was trustee of ‘Recyke y’Bike’ having helped to develop this local charity since it was founded in 2006.
I have worked as a research scientist for many years, most recently working at the University of Northumbria. I am currently a cycling instructor for primary school children in North Tyneside.
As well as active involvement in improving the commiunity, I balance my time with gardening, running and orienteering.”
David Revett for Collingwood
“I grew up in Cullercoats and recently moved back to North Tyneside. In between, I have served as a Councillor in Yorkshire, gathered and broadcast traffic and travel information and worked in support roles helping vulnerable adults with a range of needs, particularly housing and literacy.
Having first-hand experience of redundancy as a result of the cuts of the Coalition government, I am now setting up my own timber recycling business and before the pandemic was active in voluntary organisations including the Station Master’s Community Garden and the Green Beans Market in Whitley Bay.
Among my priorities are to see that all is done at a local level to combat climate change, the provision of decent housing for all across the borough and to protect and enhance all facilities that allow North Tyneside’s children to reach their potential.”

I work in data analytics – and joined the Green Party as the evidence for acting now against the Climate Crisis is overwhelming.

“I graduated in Computer Science from Strathclyde University over 30 yrs ago and have been working in IT ever since – I have worked for organisations as varied as Dept of Transport, Homes England, NATO and Sony Ericsson where I helped develop the world’s first Smart Phone.
I have been a couch base green warrior for too many years and I have now started my green journey to try to make a practical contribution. In standing for the Green party on May 6th, I hope to be able to persuade other people to start their green journey too.”

“I have lived in Howdon for well over 20 years, after returning from Plymouth University with a degree in Environmental Science. I completed my Masters degree in Environmental Management at Sunderland University.
For the best part of my working life I have been working as a qualified nurse in NHS inpatient mental health services.
As well as working in mental health, I have also been a scuba diving instructor for the last thirty years. During this time, I have personally seen the effects climatic change is having on our oceans and it is scary.”
