National Day of Reflection

One year ago today, we entered the first UK Covid Lockdown. In those twelve months since, we have lost almost 150,000 people to the virus in the UK (1).

To mark the anniversary of the lockdown, and to remember those we have lost, Marie Curie have declared today a National Day of Reflection (2).

A one minute silence will take place at 12pm – you can join others at an online event – register for the live online event here.

At 8pm a further one minute silence will be held – as everyone is invited to shine a candle from their doorstep or window to show support to people going through bereavement.

In North Tyneside, St Mary’s lighthouse will act as a beacon of remembrance (3).
