The Green Party has called for the Government to provide the necessary resources so that every local authority has an effective test and trace system in place, run by local public health authorities, ahead of the lifting of lockdown restrictions.
We have written to Cllr Margaret Hall, the North Tyneside Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing.
We have asked that North Tyneside follows the example of councils such as Middlesborough, Norfolk and Lambeth. These Councils have given responsibility for contact-tracing to their own public health and community health experts, instead of relying on the failed national Serco scheme.
