North Tyneside Green Party welcomed Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer to Whitley Bay on Thursday 24th March 2022. Carla Denyer officially launched the local election campaign in Whitley Bay with Alan Steele, local Green Party candidate for Whitley Bay, with a pledge to build a green and fairer future for North Tyneside.
Carla is co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, elected along with Adrian Ramsay in October 2021.
During her visit to the region Carla met with lead campaigner for Whitley Bay, Alan Steele.
Ahead of the local elections on Thursday 5th May, Alan Steele is looking to build on the record results of last year’s election, which saw the party more than double the Green votes, and move into second place, overtaking the Conservatives and halving Labour’s majority. A victory for Alan in the 5th May local elections will give North Tyneside its first Green councillor.
Alan and Carla were canvassing door to door in Whitley Bay and Carla officially launched the local election campaign with Alan where they outlined their priorities for Whitley Bay. The event was held at The Brewery and attended by local members.
Alan said:
“This is a crucial moment for North Tyneside. This year, more than ever, we need a strong and independent voice to stand up for Whitley Bay and hold the Council to its promises. I’m delighted to welcome Carla to Whitley Bay and launch a campaign that will put local people and the planet at the heart of decision making in North Tyneside.”
